ADOLFO BIMER
(Santiago, 1985)
Through an artistic practice that merges painting, sculpture, and installation Adolfo Bimer explores the materia and metaphorical interiority of the human body. His work investigates the interactions between the fields of painting and construction, which he then complements with references to medical and biological archives. As a result, his artworks question health and illness through material interactions. Works like 254 (2015) and 291: II (2018) explore bodily movements, fluids, organs, and textures, while considering the development of medical imaging technology such as X-rays, microscopy, scans, and anatomical drawing as attempts to picture a body that we would otherwise be unable to see.
